Carbon brushes

Carbon brushes are sliding contacts in motors and generators that make electrical contact with the collector or the slip rings of the rotating machine part. An additional impregnation gives the carbon brush better sliding properties, resulting in less sparking.

Our carbon brushes are available with different connections and customisations as well as twin carbon brushes. Of course, we also have a comprehensive range of carbon brush mounts in our product range.

Send us your enquiry – our query drawing for carbon brushes makes it easier for you to describe the carbon brush you require. Browse through the shop, where you will find the most popular carbon brushes and can order directly online. Or give us a call – we will be happy to help you find the right carbon for your machine.

Depending on the application, we supply carbon brushes in the following versions:

  • Graphite carbon brush
  • High-carbon brushes
  • Bronze carbon brush
  • Silver carbon brush
  • Twin carbon brush
  • Layered carbon brush
  • Smooth or with armature
  • With impregnation

Graphite carbon brush | Black carbon

There are numerous areas of application for graphite carbon brushes, often also called black carbons, such as universal machines, household machines, power tools, alternators, generators, etc.

High-carbon brushes

Refined graphite carbons, so-called high-carbon brushes, are used for DC and AC motors, three-phase commutators and slip ring current transmissions. The high-carbon brushes made from pre-solidified carbon material are characterised by:

  • Very good physical values
  • Good commutation properties
  • High short-circuit protection
  • Good thermal conductivity

Bronze carbon brush

If good conductivity properties, low resistance or high electrical load capacity are required, bronze carbon brushes are suitable, which have a certain percentage of copper in addition to graphite and are used in DC low-voltage machines, car starters, slip rings, etc.

Silver carbon brush

Silver carbons, also known as silver graphite carbons, consist of high-quality graphite and silver powder and have a low resistance. Due to the good chemical resistance of silver, they can be used in extreme environmental conditions, such as in earthing systems in the shipping industry in conjunction with a slip ring.

Other common names for carbon brushes are industrial carbon, small carbon, micro carbon, electric carbon, abrasive carbon or carbon inserts, motor carbon, automotive carbon, industrial truck carbon, forklift carbon and high-current carbon, which are used in our telescopic current collectors, among other things.

There are also special forms such as carbon pins, carbon tubes, carbon rolls and carbon bearings.
